Taruq Vandire was an Heavordist revolutionary and Celestial politican who led the Celestial Hegemony from 1620 until his overthrow in 1625. His theories, military strategies, and political policies are collectively known as Vandirism.
Vandire proclaimed the Great Commission in 1621 after an attempted assassination plot and continued it until his dispoal and supossed death in 1625. Due to the Great Commission, an estimated 2 million people were killed and millions more were sent to labor camps in the west as political and religious prisoners. As the Great Commission spread, it breached into the military after Vandire's religious police were incorporated as supervisors. The police instead began to purge the military with the same kind of zealousness that they had inflicted upon the hegemony's urban centers. The police moved quickly from prosecuting the rank-and-file on up the military chain of command.
Eventually the Grand Archon of War himself, Marbas kol Gahal, was accussed of paganism and arrested. Due to his high popularity within the military, soldiers stormed the prison where he was held and freed him. He then declared Vandire a "False Hegemon and a traitor to God and the People".
