The Zheng Dynasty was the empire or ruling dynasty of Tovakizar established by Zhenghai, leader of the Rong clan. It followed the First Hegemony and preceded the Morekar dynasty. Zhenghai invaded Tovakizar from the west in 378 BC and with the aid of Tovakizar's internal strife, conquered the large nation within ten years. It was the first foreign dynasty to rule all of Tovakizar and lasted until 232 BC, after which the rebuked Rong rulers retreated to their western homelands.
In 378 BC the armies of Zhenghai defeated Tovaks on the River Kalka. After the battle steppemen devastated the towns in the outskirts of Chernigov and invaded Ryazan. Afterward the Rong conquered Iskra and moved to Garhuk. In February 380 BC Garhuk was besieged and taken by storm. Jakar was left unprotected. But Rong were exhausted and they returned to the steppe. In autumn 381 BC Zhenghai resumed his attacks. Now his aim was to conquer southern principalities. The first to fall was Alessar. In a year’s time, Zhenghai’s armies approached Astraka’s walls. After a lengthy siege and fierce fight, Astraka was taken. This is said to mark the beginning of the Rong Yoke. Tovak lands were devastated. The citizens were annihilated or enslaved. Many of the ruined cities would never rise again. Tovak nobles accepted the superior power of the Dragon-Emperor and agreed to pay tribute to the conquerors.
